Rabies Alert – Update for August 6, 2012
August 6, 2012: A skunk killed by Police on August 2nd has tested positive for rabies. The animal was discovered on the 300 block of Van Sant Drive in Palmyra after witnesses observed it attacking an opossum. Both animals were destroyed. This is the third animal that has tested positive for rabies in Palmyra and Cinnaminson. In recent weeks. Residents are advised to keep all pets indoors on in your yard and make sure they’re vaccinated and properly licensed.
Residents are instructed to keep all pet food indoors, not to feed feral cats or stray dogs, keep your trash covered, clean and cover your grills, restrict bird food/seed to above ground feeders, and immediately report any unusual animal behavior to Palmyra Police at (856) 829-0191 or to the Borough's Animal Control Officer, M & R Wildlife, at (856) 786-6623.
