The Ripon Police Department has begun pedestrian crosswalk enforcement in the City of Ripon. Motor Vehicles must yield to Pedestrians within a crosswalk (Wis St Stat. 346.23-346.24). Fines for violation range between $150 - $232 and is a 4 point deduction on the Driver's License.
The City of Ripon has placed "Yield to Pedestrians" signs in several locations within the City. Driver's should also be aware that just because there is no sign at a crosswalk, this does not effect the law and Motor Vehicles must still yield to pedestrians within the crosswalk.
Enforcement activities will concentrate on the following locations:
Watson St @ Jackson St.
Blackburn St. @ Blossom St.
Blackburn St. @ Seward St.
E. Fond du Lac St. @ St. Wenceslaus St.
Union St between Thorne St and Congress St.
