On Saturday, August 11, 2012, Parks Bureau personnel from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will join with local clergy, business owners, volunteers and other members of the community to enjoy “A Day in the Park.” This National Night Out Event begins at 10:00 A.M. with a Community Walk from Athens Park, 12806 South Broadway, Los Angeles. The walk will conclude at Earvin “Magic” Johnson Park where there will be food, music, and games for the kids. There will also be displays provided by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Enforcement Bureau, Aero Bureau and the Mounted Enforcement Detail. The public can get a close look at the equipment they use and personnel from those units will be available for questions. Come join us for a “Day in the Park,” we look forward to seeing you and your family there.
This year marks the 29th Anniversary of the National Night Out event which is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
