A RED FLAG WARNING means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now..or will shortly. A combination of strong winds..low relative humidity and warm temperatures will create explosive fire growth potential.
WEDNESDAY AUGUST 15, 2012 from 11:00pm – THURSDAY AUGUST 16, 2012 Noon (PDT):
Breezy North winds with low humidity will come through the Puget Sound Lowlands throughout Wednesday afternoon. It has been about 5 years since these North winds with low humidity have occurred.
Winds will change on Thursday morning.…East 6 to 14 mph sustained Ridgetop gusts to 30 mph. Concerns for Fire Weather Zone 650..ridges of the Northwest Olympic Peninsula and the Sol Duc River Drainage. Relative humidity low with RH Values of 25 to 35 %
Temperatures in the mid 60’s to Mid 70’s.
IMPACTS…any fires that get started could spread rapidly under this COM this afternoon and evening.
