Yesterday a 71 year old victim was scammed out of $12.000 after the scammer called and said she had won a prize and needed to pay the taxes to claim it. The scammer requested she use a money wire service to transfer the funds and she did so. We see this frequently.
PLEASE share your knowledge of these scams with the seniors in your life.
There is no prize for contest you never entered; your grandson is not in jail in England and the person is not going to pay you extra for something that you are selling.
Sending money using a wire service to a stranger is like sending them cash. DO NOT DO IT.
