Deceased Person Identified – 27 year old Michael L. Jackson
On August 21, 2012 at approximately 4:30am the West Monroe Police Department responded to the Endom Bridge in reference to receiving a report of an unknown male who had reportedly jumped from the bridge into the water below.
Officers from the West Monroe Police Department, Monroe Police Department, Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Department along with the West Monroe Fire Department responded to the rescue attempt.
Once on scene West Monroe Police Marine Unit was launched and immediately began searching for the victim. Our department was later joined by the assistance of the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Department Dive team. Both units searched the river and downstream to no avail.
At approximately 1:30pm on August 22, West Monroe Police responded to a reported deceased victim who had been located on the West Monroe side of the Ouachita River just south of the Endom Bridge.
The deceased victim, who was later identified as 27 year old Michael L. Jackson of West Monroe, was removed from the river and transported to the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office.
This investigation is still ongoing at this time.
The victim will be transferred to Little Rock Arkansas for a routine autopsy.
Out of respect for the family no further information is planned to be released.
