Tropical Storm Isaac
Citizens,
We are doing all that we can to monitor the ever changing status of Tropical Storm Isaac and will be providing you with updates when necessary over the next couple of days. Emergency Management was briefed by the National Weather Service this afternoon and the current outlook is as follows:
Depending on the exact landfall of the storm, the greatest potential impact for our area at this time is moderate flooding and isolated tornadoes. If the storm continues to follow its current course, we could see 4 or more inches of rain.
The NWS predicts that the first rain bands from the storm will advance into the area from the South later tonight and heavier rain is expected Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday.
Our area is no stranger to the effects of tropical storms and history tells us that there is a good potential for power outages in the aftermath, so this is the perfect time to consider checking your emergency supplies such as water, food, emergency lighting, and batteries. A 3 day supply is recommended.
Again, we expect several more briefings on this storm over the next few days and we will keep you up to date via Nixle as they come in. In the meantime, please stay tuned to local TV/Radio news casts for the latest.
Stay Safe!
