On September 8th, Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas convened with citizens from the Willowbrook area to help publicize a $10,000 reward in exchange for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for a fatal hit and run collision that occurred on June 6, 2012.
On that day at, approximately 5:50 p.m., 38-year old Jose Arreola and his 7-year old daughter were crossing the street in a cross walk at Santa Ana Boulevard and Watts Avenue when a pearl-white Cadillac Escalade pulled out from behind a stopped vehicle and struck both pedestrians. Jose Arreola died as a result of his injuries and his daughter was left in critical condition.
The suspect is described as a heavy set male Hispanic in his 20’s or 30’s with short hair and a goatee. The vehicle was described as a 2000-2006 pearl-white Cadillac Escalade with 22”-24” chrome rims, and possibly having moderate damage to its front end, including damage to the hood, front grille, and possibly the right side of the front bumper.
Although the collision occurred within Century Station’s patrol area, the California Highway Patrol—South Los Angeles Office has jurisdiction over traffic related incidents occurring in unincorporated Willowbrook and is handling the investigation.
The CHP—South Los Angeles Office urges any auto repair shop or resident with information about the crime to contact the CHP—South Los Angeles Office. No inquiries will be made about any witnesses’ immigration status.
