Lake Lure Classical Academy says "Thank You" in a big way to Lake Lure Police Department

COMMUNITY NEWS

LAKE LURE POLICE DEPARTMENT
SEPTEMBER 13, 2012

September 15, 2012 is National Tell A Police Officer “Thank You” Day. In observance of this day, the kids and teachers from Lake Lure Classical Academy invited Lake Lure Police Department to enjoy a brunch and program given by the over 300 children at the school.

The officers enjoyed a wonderful brunch with coffee and Orange Juice along with bagels, fruit, wraps and various other delicious snacks. The officers were then escorted to a waiting assembly which stood and cheered when they entered. The classes led in saying The Pledge of Allegiance followed by a beautiful solo of The Star Spangled Banner. Each class read “thank you” letters to the officers and gifted them with banners and cards, and the fourth-grade class sang a wonderful song about law enforcement in the community.

It was a very touching and moving assembly coordinated by the hard work of Ms. Jessica Boland, LLCA’s Curriculum Director. Ms. Carolina Upchurch, Principle of LLCA, gave a heartfelt speech thanking each of the town’s officers on the hard work they do to keep the community of Lake Lure, peaceful and safe.

Lake Lure Police Department’s Chief Hester mentioned that he had never heard of a school giving such a fine program in appreciation of the Police Department. When the officer’s returned to the station, each letter and card was read and put on display in the department.

Lake Lure Police Department would like to thank Lake Lure Classical Academy, the teachers and students, on the very moving presentation given to show how the officers in our community are appreciated by its citizens. It’s wonderful to see the unity between peace officers and children of our town.

Thank you Lake Lure Classical Academy!
