Starting today a major highway construction project will begin just north of Russell Long Blvd. to replace the east bound US 60 to northbound US 87 bridge. That means that east bound US 60 traffic will detour through US 87 SB on ramp. Temporary traffic signals will be installed at the bottom of the ramp. East bound US 60 traffic will access northbound US 87 through an opening in the concrete barrier. Northbound US 87 traffic accessing westbound US 60 will be required to continue on north bound on NB US 87 and take the Hunsley Road exit. From there traffic will be required to go over the overpass and take service road southbound to the SB US 87 on ramp. Access to westbound US 60 will take the Hereford exit. Construction time is slated to take roughly 55-60 days. I suggest that motorist find an alternate route and avoid the construction area. Canyon Police will be working traffic in the area during the construction period.
