Century Detective Honored
On September 19th, the Sheriff’s Department recognized several of its personnel at its annual Medal of Valor Awards Luncheon. One such person honored was Century Station’s Detective Salvador Rios.
Prior to coming to Century Station as a detective, Deputy Rios was assigned to East Los Angeles Station. While working a patrol assignment, he responded to a call of a structure fire. Deputy Rios was among the first to arrive and was alerted by a neighbor that the resident of the burning house was paraplegic and still inside the location.
Deputy Rios and the neighbor braved the heat and smoke, and located the resident in a room and carried her to safety.
For his actions that day, Detective Rios received the Department’s second highest honor, the medal for Meritorious Conduct, Gold.
Congratulations to Detective Rios for a job well done.
