Two Gang Members Arrested After Shooting in Willowbrook
On the evening of September 22nd, Century Station deputies responded to the 2000 block of Lucien Street in the Willowbrook area of unincorporated Compton regarding an illegal shooting call. Upon their arrival, they contacted witnesses who described the getaway vehicle as an older model two door Cadillac sedan occupied by a male Hispanic in his mid-twenties with a shaved head, and wearing a white t-shirt. The second suspect was described as another male Hispanic in his mid twenties with short dark hair and wearing a white tee shirt.
A crime broadcast was initiated via the deputy’s hand held radio. Another unit listening to the crime broadcast had minutes earlier conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle and had identified its passengers. The passengers were identified as local gang members from Compton. The vehicle and its passengers matched the description of the shooting suspects and the handling deputies were notified of the lead.
While continuing their investigation, the handling deputies checked an area known to be frequented by the suspect gang and detained several gang members matching the description of the suspects. Two of the individuals detained identified themselves as the same individuals whom had been stopped earlier in the evening.
Based upon the descriptions provided by the witnesses and the information provided by the deputies from the earlier traffic stop, the two individuals were arrested in connection with the shooting. A screening for gunshot residue was conducted in the field. No victims were located. The investigation is still ongoing.
