On Thursday, October 4th residents on the peninsula will see emergency response vehicles roll through their towns with lights and sirens going as part of the 19th Annual Peninsula Firefighters Burn Relay, a benefit for the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation (AARBF). Fire departments and members of emergency response agencies will work up the peninsula from Moffett Field to San Francisco raising funds for the foundation. The procession is expected to arrive at Mountain View Fire Station #1 around 8:45am.
The event, which includes stops at 16 fire stations, raises money to support the programs of the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation, including the foundation’s annual week long residential camp for child burn survivors, Champ Camp.
This annual fundraising event, organized by volunteers Jim Demattei (Redwood City FD) and Steve Besozzi (Central County FD), will include antique and modern emergency vehicles. The event will begin at Moffett Field Fire Department at 8:00am, make its way up the Peninsula stopping at local stations along the way, and end at the San Francisco Fire Department Division of Training (corner of 19th and Folsom). Along the relay route, the Burn Foundation will collect donations from our local fire heroes. These funds have been raised by fire and public safety agencies through personal donations and annual community events including golf tournaments, pancake breakfasts and spaghetti dinners. Funds raised will be formally presented to the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation throughout the day at the various stops.
