Lake Lure Police Department Weekend Results in Two Felony - Flee to Elude Arrests

1. GREGORY STEPHEN GARDNER, DOB 7/22/1990 of Rutherfordton, NC had warrants secured for his arrest in an incident that occurred 09/26/2012 where Gardner, when asked to stop for a Checkpoint conducted by Lake Lure Police Department, sped off and led officers in a vehicle chase that ended on Island Creek Road. Gardner then ran off into the wooded area where officers were unable to locate him. Officer Scott Haynes secured warrants for Gardner.

10/6/2012 Officer Scott Haynes was in the Ingles parking area when he noticed a subject hiding in a vehicle. Haynes identified him as Gardner. Mr. Gardner was arrested and taken into custody and booked into Rutherford County Detention Center on warrants for Resisting a Public Officer, Felony Flee to Elude Arrest with Motor Vehicle, Fictitious/Altered Title/Registration Card/Tag, Reckless Driving to Endanger and Driving Left of Center.

2. WADE ALEXANDER TAYLOR, DOB 10/12/1983 of Shelby, NC was seen exiting the PVA of a hotel and bar establishment on Memorial Hwy driving careless and recklessly. Corporal Scott Haynes witnessed the subject to be driving recklessly. Corporal Haynes activated his lights and siren. Alexander refused to stop his vehicle and continued driving recklessly at a high rate of speed through Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. Corporal Haynes was able to end the chase at Falls Hotel on Hwy 64/74.

Corporal Scott Haynes placed Alexander under arrest for Fail to Heed Light or Siren, Resisting a Public Officer, Reckless Driving to Endanger, Speeding, Driving While Impaired, Driving Left of Center and Felony Flee to Elude Arrest with Motor Vehicle. Alexander was booked into Rutherford County Detention Center.
