As Christmas time quickly approaches, LPD officers are preparing again this year for our annual Santa Cops program. Santa Cops is a joint event coordinated by LPD officers and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lubbock and supported by the generosity of several local businesses.
Santa Cops pairs officers with children from our community in an effort to help them experience the fun and joy of Christmas in a way they might not normally be able to. Officers will spend several hours one day with the children in a group; buying the children Christmas gifts, taking them out to eat, and taking part in other fun activities like bowling or seeing a movie.
LPD officers volunteer their time and money to this program every year and we also appreciate support from the Lubbock community as we work to brighten the Christmas of as many children in our area as possible. Anyone wanting to learn how to get involved with this great cause can call 775-2969.
