Mountain View Police Department part of new gang task force's first operation.
The newly formed North Santa Clara County Gang Task Force (NSCCGTF) had their inaugural operation yesterday (Thursday, October 11, 2012) with a series of Probation and Parole searches in the cities of Sunnyvale and Mountain View. It is NSCCGTF's mission to collaboratively enable uniformed and plain clothed gang officers from participating agencies to pro-actively and jointly address gang violence in the northern part of Santa Clara County. In addition to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety and Mountain View Police Department, participating agencies included the Palo Alto Police Department, Los Altos Police Department, Stanford Department of Public Safety, Santa Clara Police Department, Santa Clara Sheriff’s Office, Santa Clara County Probation Department, and State Parole.
Sixty-two (62) officers, representing the NSCCGTF’s ten (10) agencies, fanned out in six (6) teams and visited multiple residences in both cities. Twenty-two (22) gang member and gang affiliate probationers and parolees and their homes were visited. In total, thirteen (13) arrests were made for a variety of charges including Possession of Deadly Weapons, Possession for Sale of Narcotics, Probation Violation, and Parole Hold.
It is anticipated that future regular operations of the NSCCGTF will include contacts with gang member and gang affiliate probationers and parolees living in other participating cities and jurisdictions.
