Occasionally peddlers or solicitors go door to door selling items or products. Often it is legitimate, however, keep in mind that anyone selling door to door in the Village or Town must first obtain a permit from the Clerk's Office. The permit process helps verify the legitimacy of both the company and solicitor. If someone knocks on your door wih the intent to sell a product and you are interested in it, always ask for their solicitor's permit. If they do not have one, or get a bit aggressive in their sales pitch, please turn them away and call the EAPD at either 911 or 652-1111. Keep in mind that some people who may claim to be solictors may just be "casing" a residence or neighborhood to determine its vunerability to a future crime(s).
