Adopt-A-Thon
On Saturday, October 13, 2012, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., Anne Arundel County Animal Control hosted an “Adopt-A-Thon”. The event was held at the Anne Arundel County Animal Control shelter located at 411 Maxwell Frye Road in Millersville, Maryland. The event featured live music, face painting, a reptile display, various rescue groups with adoptable pets, food and refreshments, a demonstration by the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s K-9 Unit, Crime Prevention, local spay/neuter information, educational information and more.
The event was a huge success with Animal Control completing 31 adoptions and three redemptions. 20 animals were adopted out during the previous event in May of 2012. The animals that were adopted during this recent event included 18 cats, 12 dogs and one rat. Animal Control hopes that the public will think of adopting from the shelter if/when they have room for a new pet in their heart and their home.
Anne Arundel County Animal Control would like to thank the Animal Control staff, Animal Control volunteers, the “Alarmers”, the Reserves, members of the Anne Arundel County Police Department, the low cost spay/neuter clinics and all the rescue groups that participated. Animal Control believes hosting events such as this will increase public awareness about the option to adopt a homeless pet from the shelter and educate the public about bite prevention and other important animal issues
