Attempted robbery on the Stevens Creek Trail in Mountain View
On October 16, 2012, at approximately 8:05 P.M., the Mountain View Police Department received a report of an attempted robbery that just occurred on the Stevens Creek Trail in Mountain View.
The victim was walking home on the Stevens Creek Trail near Evelyn Ave. and Highway 85 with his backpack in hand. The suspect approached the victim from behind and grabbed the backpack. The two struggled to gain control of the backpack and during the struggle the victim and suspect fell to the ground. The victim was able to gain control of his backpack and run home where he called 9-1-1. The victim received minor abrasions as a result of the attack.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his mid-20's, over 5'10" tall with a medium to heavy build. The suspect was wearing dark clothing and a dark colored baseball cap.
All trail users are encouraged to be aware of their surroundings and should call the MVPD to report any suspicious people or activities via the non-emergency dispatch number at 650-903-6395. An emergency or crime in progress should be reported via 9-1-1.
