There are currently no watches or warnings issued for Bergen County.
Current forecast data at 11:00 AM today shows that Hurricane Sandy is a Category 2 storm with sustained winds of 105 MPH moving north at 16MPH. Sandy is expected to impact the Bahamas later today.
Sandy is expected to track west by Saturday (10/27) and impact our area by late Sunday (10/28). It is still too early to forecast the exact track at this time.
However, prediction models show that Sandy could bring between 4-9 inches of rain, tropical storm force winds, and significant to major flooding to us through Wednesday (10/31).
An approaching cold front and upper level system will interact with Sandy which may keep the storm slow moving. There is a full-moon Sunday (10/28) which will increase astronomical tides.
Now is the time to make preparations for the possibility of heavy rainfall.
