The Newton Police Department is investigating a reported rape of a female.
On Monday October 22, 2012 Newton Police received a report from Dean of Students and Community Life at the Andover Newton Theological School, 210 Herrick Road, that one of their students had disclosed to a staff member that she was raped on campus.
The female victim reported to the school that during the afternoon of Sunday October 14, 2012 while she was standing at the sink inside a bathroom located in the basement of Stoddard Hall, 230 Herrick Road, Newton Centre she was grabbed and thrown to the ground and raped by an unknown male.
The victim reported the incident to an administrator at the school on Tuesday October 16th and the school notified the Newton Police. The victim informed the school that she wishes to remain anonymous. The victim has not reported the incident to the Newton Police and has not spoken with investigators.
The only description the victim could provide to school staff was her attacker was a white male who was wearing a facemask covering his head and face.
The school is cooperating with police and will continue to urge the victim to come forward and report the incident to the police.
At this time there is no further information or suspect description available.
At the time of the assault, there were approximately 250 non-students on campus for a convention.
