Prepare for Hurricane Sandy
As a result of Hurricane Sandy, we may experience high winds, heavy rain and flooding, and power outages may be experienced throughout NJ. With that in mind, please observe the following reminders for your family as well as anyone whom you know with Special Needs:
• Be prepared to shelter in place if necessary
• Three days' supply of canned, non-perishable, ready-to-eat FOOD Three days' supply of WATER (a total of three gallons per family member)
• Battery-operated RADIO and extra batteries
• FLASHLIGHT and extra batteries
• One week's prescription MEDICATIONS
• FIRST AID KIT
• Personal TOILETRIES, (incl. feminine products)
• Non-electric CAN OPENER and UTENSILS
• SPECIAL NEEDS items: o INFANT care items
o Items for ELDERLY family members
o Items for relatives with DISABILITIES
• CASH or TRAVELERS CHECKS
• Store important DOCUMENTS in a waterproof, safe location
• Try to keep cell phones charged at all times
• Pet supplies

• Pick up a FREE “File of Life” (to have all emergency info in one place) from the Health Department Nursing Office
