Delaware Township has declared a Local State of Emergency due to Hurricane Sandy
DELAWARE TOWNSHIP
HUNTERDON COUNTY, NEW JERSEY
DECLARATION OF LOCAL STATE OF EMERGENCY
TO ALL RESIDENTS AND PERSONS WITHIN THE MUNICIPALITY OF DELAWARE TOWNSHIP, HUNTERDON COUNTY, NEW JERSEY AND TO ALL DEPARTMENTS OF THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT OF DELAWARE TOWNSHIP.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the powers vested by Chapter 251 of the laws of 1942, as amended and supplemented, N.J.S.A. App. A:9-30 et seq.; N.J.S.A. 40:48-1(6); N.J.S.A. whichever laws or laws apply, I have declared that a local disaster/emergency exists within DELAWARE TOWNSHIP, and
WHEREAS, the aforesaid laws authorize the promulgation of such orders, rules and regulations as are necessary to meet the various problems which have or may occur due to such an emergency, and
WHEREAS, by reason of the conditions which are imminent due to HURRICANE SANDY and/or remnants of HURRICANE SANDY’s anticipated impact on DELAWARE TOWNSHIP which may affect the health, safety and welfare of the people of DELAWARE TOWNSHIP, and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that DELAWARE TOWNSHIP should then be declared disaster area; and, further, that certain measures must be taken in order to insure an orderly flow of traffic; and, further in order to protect the persons and property of the residents affected by the conditions, and
WHEREAS, the following areas are designated disaster areas: THE ENTIRE MUNICIPALITY OF DELAWARE TOWNSHIP.
NOW, THEREFORE, in accordance with the aforesaid laws, it is promulgated and declared that the following regulations shall be in addition to all other laws of the State of New Jersey and DELAWARE TOWNSHIP. I hereby ORDER AND DIRECT the following:
1. The Delaware Township Police Department, Sergeantsville Volunteer Fire Company, Stockton Fire Company, West Amwell Fire Company, Amwell Valley Fire Company, Kingwood Fire Company, Lambertville Fire Department and Delaware Township Department of Public Works are authorized to restrict vehicular traffic and/or pedestrian traffic on any road and/or all roads and/or specific area within DELAWARE TOWNSHIP to protect lives , protect property, and allow emergency work to be accomplished
2. No vehicles shall be parked on any roadway or on the shoulder on any roadway where there are any hazardous conditions present. These hazardous conditions shall include but not be limited to: flooding, wires down, trees down, fires, and rescue situations. The Delaware Township Police are authorized to have any vehicle removed that is parked or abandoned on any roadway on the shoulder of any roadway in DELAWARE TOWNSHIP that will restrict emergency access to any of the above hazardous condition areas or are involved in any emergency situation.
3. The Delaware Township Police Department, Sergeantsville Volunteer Fire Company, Stockton Fire Company, West Amwell Fire Company, Amwell Valley Fire Company, Kingwood Fire Company, Lambertville Fire Department and Delaware Township Department of Public Works are authorized may restrict access to certain geographic areas of DELAWARE TOWNSHIP as they deem necessary to protect lives, property, and allow emergency work to be accomplished.
4. The Delaware Township Police Department and Delaware Township Office of Emergency Management may order mandatory evacuation of homes or businesses in DELAWARE TOWNSHIP as they deem necessary for the safety and welfare of the public.
5. The Delaware Township Police Department, Sergeantsville Volunteer Fire Company, Stockton Fire Company, West Amwell Fire Company, Amwell Valley Fire Company, Kingwood Fire Company, and Lambertville Fire Department may order JCP&L and/or other power companies that may be assisting JCP&L to cut power to any area or building they deem necessary to protect lives and property of the residents of DELAWARE TOWNSHIP and allow emergency work to be accomplished.
6. The Delaware Township Police Department, Sergeantsville Volunteer Fire Company, Stockton Fire Company, West Amwell Fire Company, Amwell Valley Fire Company, Kingwood Fire Company, and Lambertville Fire Department may order Elizabethtown Gas and/or other gas companies to cut gas to any area or building they deem necessary to protect lives and property of the residents of DELAWARE TOWNSHIP and allow emergency work to be accomplished.
This ORDER, a Disaster Emergency Proclamation, shall take effect at 1000 hours on Monday, September 29, 2012 and shall remain in effect until such time as it is determined by me that an emergency no longer exists.
ORIGINAL SIGNED COPY SHALL BE MAINTAINED AT POLICE HEADQUARTERS WITH COPIES POSTED AT THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING, FIREHOUSE, POLICE STATION AND FORWARDED TO THE HUNTERDON COUNTY DIVISION OF EMERGENCY MANGEMENT. ELECTRONIC COPIES SHALL BE MADE AVAILABLE ON TOWNSHIP WEBSITE, FIREHOUSE WEBSITE, OEM FACEBOOK PAGE, AND NIXLE SYSTEM.
