“Panga” smuggling vessel recovered this morning just south of Marina del Rey.
At 0655 this morning, LASD Marina del Rey Station and Los Angeles County Baywatch Lifeguards responded to “Panga” smuggling type vessel in the surf line just south of Marina del Rey Harbor. A trail of footprints was found leading from the waterline to a beach exit point near-by. A search of the area was conducted, and no occupants of the vessel were located. The “Panga” vessel was recovered from the water and seized as evidence.
The investigation of this maritime smuggling is being handled by L.A. B.E.S.T., United States Coast Guard and United States Customs and Boarder Protection.
