On November 24th at approximately 8:30 pm, West Monroe Police Officers responded to westbound Interstate 20 at the Downing Pines Road overpass in reference to a fatal motor vehicle crash that claimed the life of two (2) victims.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2007 Toyota RAV, driven by Sarah E. Attaway, 24 of Shreveport was traveling eastbound on Interstate 20 when it left the roadway and traveled through the median entering the westbound lanes striking a 2011 Audi, head-on. The Toyota overturned coming to rest on the westbound shoulder where it began to burn. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office. The victim’s body has been sent to Little Rock, Arkansas for an autopsy. It is unknown at this time if alcohol is suspected to be a factor in this crash however routine toxicology reports are still pending. It is unknown at this time if the victim was wearing a seatbelt.
The occupants of the other vehicle, a 2011 Audi were identified as Ray E. Ashby Jr., 63 of Downsville, Lou Ashby, 61 also of Downsville, LA, Mark Ashby, 41 of Austin Texas and Anthony Senecal, 44 of Texas.
Ray E. Ashby Jr. was fatally injured and died at the scene. All three remaining occupants were transported to Glenwood Regional Medical Center. Anthony Senecal and Mark Ashby were later transported by helicopter to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. Their condition at this time is unknown.
Based on the positions the occupants were found inside of the vehicle and the severity of their injuries the driver of the Audi has yet to be determined.
This crash remains under investigation at this time.
