ROCKY MOUNT CONVICTED FELON SENTENCED FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING

GREENVILLE - United States Attorney Thomas G. Walker announced that on November 13, 2012, Senior United States District Judge Malcolm J. Howard sentenced PHILLIP DWAYNE ADCOCK, 45, of Rocky Mount, North Carolina to 135 months imprisonment followed by 8 years supervised release. Judge Howard also sentenced ADCOCK to a consecutive term of 18 months imprisonment for violating the terms of his supervised release for a prior federal conviction.
A Federal Grand Jury returned a Superseding Criminal Indictment on March 7, 2012. On July 9, 2012, ADCOCK pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute five hundred (500) grams or more of cocaine in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Section 846.
The investigation established that ADCOCK began selling powder cocaine shortly after being released from federal prison in 2007 on a previous federal conviction for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.

From October 28, 2011 through January 11, 2012, the Nash County Sheriff’s Office utilized a confidential informant to purchase cocaine from ADCOCK on ten separate occasions.
Investigation of this case was conducted by the Nash County Sheriff’s Office. Special Assistant United States Attorney Nathan Huff and Assistant United States Attorney Eric Goulian prosecuted the case for the government. Mr. Huff is an Assistant District Attorney in the Seventh Prosecutorial District, comprised of Nash, Wilson, and Edgecombe Counties. District Attorney Robert A. Evans has assigned him to the United States Attorney’s Office to prosecute federally the District’s most serious drug and organized crime cases. This has been made possible by a grant funded by the Governor’s Crime Commission.
