Community

This holiday season, please join the Chula Vista Fire Dept in an effort to EXTINGUISH hunger in the community.

The Chula Vista Fire Department is teaming up with the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank this holiday season to collect food for the hungry in San Diego County. Since 1977, the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank has been serving the hungry in San Diego County. In 2011 alone, the Food Bank distributed over 20.4 million pounds of food, which equates to about 16 million meals (over 30,000 meals a day). These meals go to hungry families, children, seniors, and low-income military.

During this season of giving, the Chula Vista Fire Department is collecting the following items for the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank:

• canned meats (tuna, ham, chicken)
• canned vegetables
• canned or dried fruits
• peanut butter
• dried beans, rice & cereal
• infant formula
• powdered milk
• dried pasta
• packaged nuts and seeds
• canned soup
• diapers, toothpaste, toothbrushes, tissue, & toilet paper

Those who would like to contribute to the Chula Vista Fire Department's Holiday Food Drive are encouraged to drop off items at your neighborhood Chula Vista fire station.

Thank you; and together, we can EXTINGUISH hunger in our community. Stay Fire Safe!
