Road Closure due to hydraulic spill
Location: 600 South Westover Road @Gordon Avenue
Time: 7:54 a.m.
Date: December 5, 2012
Driver One: Robert Gillion, age 23 from Albany
Vehicle: 2001 Chevrolet Malibu
Driver Two: Marcus Justice, age 53 from Tifton, Georgia
Vehicle: Reeves Construction Truck
Vehicle One and Vehicle Two were traveling north on South Westover Road when Vehicle one ran off the road. When the driver of Vehicle One tried to return to the roadway, he struck a hydraulic tank which ruptured and caused a spill on the road. (The second truck stopped on breaks to avoid getting involved in the wreck) Those involved in the wreck were seen by EMS at the scene. No injuries were reported and charges are pending.
Due to the hydraulic spill, the north bound inside lane of South Westover (between Old Jim Davis Road and West Gordon Avenue) will be closed for up to 48-hours to complete the cleanup process. Barricades will be in place so drivers need to take precautions when driving in the area or plan an alternate route.
