MAN ARRESTED WITH WEAPONS AFTER CRASHING CAR AND FLEEING
Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano, and New Jersey State Police Sgt. Adam Grossman are providing this update to an ongoing investigation.
According to Prosecutor Kearns, “Daryl Haluszczak, age 29, of Flemington, fled the scene of a single car crash on Interstate 78 in Bedminster Township earlier this morning. State Police found Haluszczak in a wooded area not far from Interstate 78 with weapons in his possession. Investigators have determined that the weapons were taken from a Readington Township residence prior to the crash.”
The investigation further revealed that shots had been fired at the Readington Township residence sometime prior to the crash. The residence is located in the Whitehouse Station section of Readington Township on Pulaski Road. Haluszczak was house sitting for the property owner who is away on vacation. It does not appear that anybody was injured in the shooting incident.
Daryl Haluszczak has been charged by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office with unlawful possession of the weapons and possession of weapons for unlawful purpose. Additional complaints may be signed by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.
This is an active investigation and additional information may be released as information is developed.
The agencies involved were the New Jersey State Police, the Bedminster Township Police, the Readington Township Police, the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.
The filing of a criminal complaint is merely a step in the criminal justice process. The defendant is presumed innocent until the matter is resolved in a court of law.
