On October 6, 2012, arrestees Keith Rains B/M/5-9-76 and Richard Charles Miles (aka Ricky) B/M/9-23-66 were involved in a physical altercation with victim Jermaine Caldwell B/M/2-4-77 at 1247 S. Marsalis Avenue. The victim was kicked and beaten on the face. The arrestees Keith Rains and Richard Charles Miles were initially charged with assault, but the charges were changed to murder when the victim died on October 12, 2012, as a result of his injuries sustained in the assault.
