Advisory

AAPD will be at or near elementary schools next week...

The police officers and staff of the Anne Arundel County Police Department Western District have the children, parents, teachers, and emergency responders of Newtown, Connecticut in their thoughts and prayers.

While there are no known threats to Anne Arundel County schools, we recognize that tragedies, like the one that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary School put the fragileness of life on the forefront of our minds.

Therefore, we will have extra patrols at and near our schools next week, especially at our elementary schools where our most vulnerable students are. If you see a police officer at your neighborhood school next week, please do not be alarmed, we only want to provide a calming presence.

As always if you hear or see anything suspicious, please call 911.

If you have an older student in our schools, please be aware of the "AACo PD Speak Out" "App" that is available for smart phones. The "App" provides a confidential link between students the officers assigned to our School Resource Unit.
