DUI WARNING What you may not know about drinking + driving. ONE drink? 5 times more likely to have an accident!
All the best for the new year, but please, drink and drive responsibly!
Did you know, your first DUI arrest will cost you over $8,000, and much more if you use an attorney to defend you?
IT’S ALL THE SAME. Alcohol is alcohol. It’s how much you consume in an hour.
EQUIVALENTS...One drink; one glass of wine; one glass of beer!
These all have the same amount of alcohol and the same affect on your brain:
1.5 oz of 80 proof liquor (in mixed drink), which is a typical shot. Doesn’t matter what type of 80 proof liquor
5 oz glass of wine (generally 12% alcohol)
12 oz glass of beer (generally 5% alcohol). Many bars serve 16 oz glasses and larger
1 drink in an hour, if you weigh under 130 lbs, will make you 5X more likely to have an accident if you drive. This one drink will raise your blood alcohol concentration (BAC) to .05%.
Two drinks will take you over the legal limit to drive (.08% BAC) and will make you 25X more likely to get into an accident.
If you weigh between 170 and 189 lbs, 2 drinks in an hour will put you at .05% and that 3rd drink will put you over .08%.
UNDER 21. If you are under 21 years old, ANY amount of alcohol in your system will make you subject to being arrested for driving in the influence.
