Reminder that it is illegal to throw snow onto a highway
When clearing a driveway or sidewalk with a snowblower, snow plow or just a shovel some people have a tendency to deposit the snow onto the roadway with the assumption that the snow plow truck will eventually sweep it off the road or cars will run over it. Keep in mind that depositing or throwing the snow on the road could be dangerous to both motorists and pedestrians. NYS Vehicle & Traffic Law Section 1219a states that "No person shall throw or deposit upon any highway any glass bottle, nails, tacks, wire, cans, SNOW or any sustance likely to injure any person, animal or vehicle upon such highway."
