Norfolk Citizen’s Police Academy Opportunity
The Citizen’s Police Academy is a program designed to provide Norfolk residents first-hand information about how their police department works and develop partnerships with the citizens to help make the City of Norfolk a strong, safe community. This program has continued to increase in popularity; more than 1000 citizens have received training in the Academy, which requires the commitment of one night a week for a 13-week period.
Classes include but are not limited to topics such as, gangs, dispatch center operations, criminal investigations, narcotics investigations, forensics and crime scene investigations, K9, and the pistol range. Learning is reinforced by practical exercises.
The Citizens Academy is offered in the Spring and Fall of each year. The Spring 2013 session dates are March 28, 2013 - June 20, 2013.
Classes are held on Thursday nights from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at the Second Patrol Division, located at 2500 North Military Highway.
