Suspicious Activity in Winhall
The Winhall Police and Rescue Department received a report from an elderly resident of Winhall reporting that on 15 January 2013 at about 8 PM he was approached at his home by persons selling meat and fish out of a van. The subjects, a man, two women and a child talked themselves into his home and once inside convinced him to spend $270 for some meat and fish. One of them asked to use the bathroom while he was “getting his checkbook” and others brought boxes into the house with the food and then left with the large boxes after they placed the meet into his freezer.
The subjects went to the Citizens Bank in Brattleboro, VT and cashed the check the following morning and the resident then called the police after speaking with family and feeling this was suspicious. This case is under investigation and if anyone has had a similar experience they can call Sgt. Thomas Crowe at the Winhall Police and Rescue Department at 297 2013.
The Winhall Police and Rescue Department is warning all residents that they should not be allowing strangers making unwanted solicitations of any kind into their homes and if in doubt to the validity of the solicitations to call the Winhall Police Department at 297 2121 immediately before letting strangers into their home.
