The Newton Police Department is reporting that shortly before 6:30 p.m., officers responded to Walgreens, which is located at 399 Washington Street, Newton Corner, for a report of a robbery.
Police learned the store was robbed by a white male, described as being over 6 feet tall, heavy build and wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt (tied tightly to hide his face) with white Patriots writing across the chest, grey sweatpants with a stripe down the side and white sneakers.
The suspect showed a knife to the male pharmacist demanding drugs. After obtaining an undetermined amount, he started to flee the store but was involved in a confrontation with another male employee. The suspect kicked the employee (transported to an area hospital) and fled the area on foot.
An area search by Newton officers with our K-9 has been terminated.
