On December 21, 2012, at approximately 8:05 a.m., a hit and run traffic collision occurred in the area of 43rd Street and Wadsworth Avenue in the City of Los Angeles. The collision occurred when Sergio Rodriguez, 30 years old, was riding his bicycle westbound on 43rd Street when he was struck from behind by a vehicle described as a red pick-up truck with gardening tool in the rear bed. The vehicle was last seen traveling westbound on 43rd Street towards Avalon Blvd.
Rodriguez was transported to LAC+USC Medical Center with severe head injuries. Despite lifesaving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and pronounced dead on December 26, 2012.
The Los Angeles Police Department is seeking the community’s assistance in locating the hit and run driver responsible for Rodriguez’s death.
