Dear Lyndhurst resident. The following information was provided to the LPD by the NJ DOT.
Please be advised that on Thursday, January 31, CSJV will be blasting the foundation of the old Rt. 3 Bridge over the Passaic River. The blasts themselves will be closely controlled, and will have minimal audible or visible impact. However, standard safety procedures effect the entire surrounding area, including brief temporary stoppage of all traffic on the river itself, as well as the following roadways:
· Route 3 EB & WB from MP 3.8 to 5.1 (approximately ½ mile from the bridge in each direction)
· Route 21 NB including the Ramp to RT 3
· Riverside Ave. NB & SB from Rutherford Ave. to Marginal Rd.
It is anticipated there will be five (5) blasting events between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM, with each event requiring a 15 minute window of traffic stoppage. State Troopers and CSJV personnel will coordinate to control traffic for the stoppages. Advanced Warning Signs and VMS will be posted around the blasting area as required.
This work is dependent on weather and job-site conditions. Any changes to the schedule will be announced in future notices.
