The Kennesaw Police Department is requesting the help of the public in identifying a person of interest in an active fraud case.
On December 17th a victim from Ruskin, Florida stated that he wired $12,860 to an account at a SunTrust bank belonging to a subject going by the name of George Hallmatt. Shortly after the money was wired to the account it was withdrawn.
The victim stated that he was a potential buyer of a 1969 Dodge Charger that he found on EBay motors, once he shown interest in purchasing the vehicle he was redirected to another website to start biding by the female seller going by the name of Linda Caragan.
When the victim won the auction he was contacted by Mr. George Hallmatt posing as an attorney working for Ms. Caragan. Mr. Hallmatt explained to the victim how and where to wire the money for the final purchase, the victim did just as he was advised to do and hasn’t
seen the vehicle he purchased and all correspondence has stopped with Mr. Hallmatt. After the initial investigation it was determined that the bank account was opened with a fraudulent passport.
The picture attached to this release is of a white male, in his late 50s to early 60s, standing between 5’9” – 5’11” tall and weighing close to 190 pounds. Detectives with the Kennesaw Police Department are asking for the public’s help in identifying this person and
where he could be located, it is believed that the male in the picture is “Mr. George Hallmatt” but at this point of the investigation we are unsure.
