Winter Storm Nemo in effect for Lyndhurst, NJ area thru February 9, 2013.
This is an important weather message from the Lyndhurst Office of Emergency Management. The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for our area from 6 AM Friday until 1 PM Saturday. The snow is expected to start falling on Friday and continue into Saturday morning. Snow amounts are expected to be between 10-14 inches with the higher amounts in certain areas. Wind speeds during this storm will be 15- 25 MPH with gusts up to 45 MPH. Please use caution while outdoors as dangerous road conditions will be present.
When the snow begins to fall there is no parking allowed on the entire length and both sides of the following streets: Chase Avenue, Kingsland Avenue, Orient Way, Page Avenue, Park Avenue, Ridge Road, Riverside Avenue, Rutherford Avenue, Stuyvesant Avenue, Ten Eyck Avenue, and Valley Brook Avenue. Parking on Second Avenue is restricted to both sides between Orient Way and Stuyvesant Avenue. Vehicles are not to be parked on school property. Vehicles that are not removed can be issued summonses and/or towed away by the discretion of the Lyndhurst Police Department.
ALL vehicles must be off the aforementioned Emergency Streets until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday night, February 9, 2013.
Snow removed from your property is not to be placed on any street. All fire hydrants on or near your property must have the snow cleared away in case of a fire. Updates for this storm can be found on the Lyndhurst OEM facebook and twitter page or by listening to the township radio station on AM 1700.
Additionally, residents are reminded that in times of power loss not to use their ovens or any auxiliary heating unit which emits carbon monoxide. Such methods of auxiliary heating are also a serious fire hazard.
