Phoned in threat to Columbia Schools

The Columbia Township Police Department is currently assisting the Columbia Schools with a threat that was phoned in to the school district in the early A.M. hours. The caller left a message on an unattended school phone line, which was received at approximately 5:30 A.M. when the school employee checked his voicemail.

The caller was very generic and general in nature, and did not mention a specific means of carrying out the threat. The voicemail message has been retained as evidence. The threatening phone call is believed to have been placed at approximately 1:30 A.M. this morning.

School staff and the Columbia Township Police Department have checked each of the schools, and the buses have been checked as well. No further threats or evidence have been located.

As the message was so generic in nature, with the schools having been checked, and with Columbia Township Police on site, school is resuming after the two hour delay.

The investigation continues, and any person with information on this call is asked to contact the Columbia Township Police Department at 517-592-3122.
