On Tuesday 2-12-13, members of the NCSO Patrol Division were conducting a Driver's License Checkpoint at NC231 and Frazier Road. A vehicle approached the checkpoint occupied by four subjects. When Deputies made contact with the driver, the smell of burnt Marijuana was detected from the vehicle. The driver (Wright) was asked to step from the vehicle. When he stepped from the vehicle, he pushed one of the Deputies and fled on foot. As he fled on foot, he dropped a .380 handgun onto the roadway. Deputies gave foot pursuit and the driver (Wright) was tased and taken into custody. The other three occupants of the vehicle were removed from the vehicle and placed into custody. During a search of the vehicle, 23 grams of Marijuana was located, along with digital scales, drug paraphernalia, and $6,400 in cash was seized.
