Hit and Run traffic collision severely injures 3 year old.

Los Angeles- On Saturday January 16, 2013 at approximately 0210 hours, a hit and run traffic collision occurred on the intersection of Cornwell Street and Sheridan Street. The collision occurred when a black 1993 Honda Civic four door, (License 4ZHV942) driven by a male Hispanic was driving southbound on Cornwell Street, failed to stop for the posted stop sign. The Honda broadsided a 2000 Toyota Echo with 3 occupants traveling e/b on Sheridan Street. The collision caused the Toyota Echo to travel in a southeast direction and collided with a lamp standard which also caused the 3 year old left rear passenger to become ejected from the Toyota Echo. After the collision the driver of the Honda Civic fled the scene running southbound on Cornwell Street leaving his vehicle abandoned at the scene and was impounded by investigating officers.

The 3 year old child sustained a punctured eye and lacerations to the back of his head and the left side of his face. The child was transported by Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics to LAC+USC Medical Center where the child is listed in critical condition. The driver is sought by the police for questioning.
