The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit has concluded its investigation of the February 8, 2013 accident on East Cedar Street involving the death of a 74 year old pedestrian, Muril M. Hancock.
Traffic Accident Reconstruction Specialists from the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department determined that the 18 year old operator from Fishkill, N.Y. failed to reduce her speed during inclement weather and hazardous road conditions; therefore, losing control of her 2001 Toyota Corolla and colliding into Muril M. Hancock. The 18 year old operator was charged with failure to reduce speed during special hazards and is to appear in Town of Poughkeepsie Justice Court at a later date.

The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department responded to a fatal automobile accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on February 8, 2013 at approximately 12:30pm on East Cedar Street in the Fairview area of the Town of Poughkeepsie.
A male pedestrian was walking near the shoulder of the road heading west on East Cedar St. A female motorist, age 18 from the Town of Fishkill, NY, was operating a 2001 Toyota Corolla westbound on East Cedar St.
The operator of the Toyota stated that she lost control of her vehicle due to snow conditions. The vehicle then struck the pedestrian causing fatal injuries. The pedestrian was transported to St. Francis Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased has been identified as Town of Poughkeepsie resident Muril M. Hancock, age 74.
