A winter storm warning is in effect until 7 pm tonight.

The National Weather Service in Gray has issued a winter storm warning for heavy snow and the earlier winter weather advisory is no longer in effect.

Snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches with locally higher amounts possible.

Snow will continue through today and then taper off to snow showers this evening and roads will be snow covered and slippery.

Winds from the northeast from 5 to 10 mph, visibility of less than a half mile at times and temperatures around 30 degrees.

Precautionary/preparedness actions

A winter storm warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you encounter downed power lines, do not approach them. Contact the Gilmanton Fire Department.

If power is lost and you use a generator, please remember to ensure that your generator or alternative heat source is properly ventilated to reduce the possibility of Carbon Monoxide poisoning.
