A winter storm warning is in effect from 7 am Wednesday to 1 pm Thursday with snow from 8 - 12 inches.

The National Weather Service in Gray has issued a winter storm warning for heavy snow from 7 a.m. Wednesday to 1 p.m. Thursday.

The winter storm watch that was in place is no longer in effect.

Heavy snow which may briefly mix with rain or sleet at times starting Wednesday morning through Thursday afternoon with accumulations of 8 to 12 inches.

With snow, winds from the east from 10 to 20 mph with gusts of up to 30 mph, visibility could be one quarter mile or less at times and temperatures in the lower 30s.

Heavy wet snow may make driving difficult on untreated roadways and snow accumulations on trees may bring down weak trees and limbs, leading to scattered power outages.

A winter storm warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. If you use an alternative heat or power source (generators or other appliances), please remember to ensure that they are used properly and vented properly to avoid fire, explosion or carbon monoxide poisoning.
