Old fashion police work results in the arrest of 2 suspected gang members
South Los Angeles Station deputies responded to a shooting call in the 1000 block of West 108th Street late Monday night and discovered a male adult suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his lower torso. Deputies immediately began canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses and developed information which led them to a nearby residence.
After obtaining a search warrant, deputies entered the residence and arrested 21 year old Juan Mayorquin, and a 16 year old male, for assault with a deadly weapon. A handgun believed to be used in the shooting was recovered at the time of their arrest. Suspect Mayorquin and the juvenile were booked at South Los Angeles Station.
Although the exact motive for the shooting is still being investigated, it appears this incident was gang related.
