This is the article and explanation regarding the Article #26 which is on the Warrant. The voting for this and other articles as well as voting will be on March 12, 2013. Please check with the Gilmanton Town Clerk's Office for more information.

Article #26: To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of Four Hundred Eighty Five Thousand Dollars ($485,000.00) for the purchase of a fire truck to replace 9 Engine 1. And further to fund this appropriation by acceptance of a Fire Act Grant equal to 95% of the cost, being a total grant of Twenty Four Thousand Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($24,250.00) to be funded by authorizing the withdrawal of that amount from the Fire Engine Fund. No funds will be expended if the grant is not approved.

BOTH the Board of Selectmen and the Budget Committee RECOMMEND $485,000.00

EXPLANATION - Article #26 asks for the appropriation of $485,000.00 so that if the fire department does receive the grant for the fire truck, the Town can accept and expend the funds.

If the fire department does not receive this grant, this money will not be expended.

If the fire department does receive this grant and the Town has accepted Article #26, we will only need to pay $24,250.00 for a $485,000.00 fire truck.  

If the department receives this grant AND the taxpayers approve Article #26, the Town will receive a new fire truck for less than $25,000.00

Both the Board of Selectmen and the Budget Committee RECOMMENDS that Article #26 PASSES.
