Arrest for Possession of Stolen Property the SRJC PD (JC 13-104)
On February 27, 2013 at approximately 6:30 p.m., the Santa Rosa Junior College District Police Department (SRJC PD) received a call from a victim of a recent residential burglary concerning her stolen laptop computer. The victim was tracking the stolen Apple Mac Book Pro through an application on her cell phone. SRJC PD Police Officers met with the victim on the main campus and were then able to isolate the location of the stolen laptop to the Frank Doyle Library, 300 Elliot Avenue. The officers conducted a security check of the library and located Ronald Logan Dewight Burt, a 21 year old Santa Rosa resident, using the stolen laptop computer inside one of the library’s study rooms.
Burt was arrested for possession of stolen property and for a no bail misdemeanor warrant from Kern County. He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail.
Anyone with information regarding this case can contact the Santa Rosa Junior College District Police Department at (707)527-1000.
Although the theft did not occur on campus, the Police Department would like to remind the SRJC community to always keep a close and watchful eye on their personal belongings. A common crime which occurs on campus is the theft of backpacks, cell phones, laptops, and purses when the owner leaves them unattended. The SRJC is an open campus and allows the public to use its facilities for educational and enrichment purposes. While the SRJC campuses are relatively safe environments, they are not crime free. Please help the Police Department by reporting any suspicious activity immediately at (707)527-1000.
