Century Station detectives were recently investigating a report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was reported stolen by a woman whose boyfriend had borrowed the car from her and failed to return it.
Detectives learned the car was a rental vehicle from a local car rental agency and that the vehicle was equipped with an in-vehicle security system. Utilizing the vehicle’s security system, detectives were able to receive updated information as to the vehicle’s current location.
The suspect attempted to alter the vehicle’s appearance by adding after-market wheels and concealing the license plates. Detectives subsequently located the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
The suspect who was driving, ignored orders to pull over and a pursuit ensued. Deputies responded quickly to assist the detectives, but after a brief pursuit, the suspect pulled over and was taken into custody without incident.
